Featured artist for the Global Alliance for Arts & Health's October 2013 member spotlight
I was the featured artist for the Global Alliance for Arts & Health's October 2013 member spotlight.
What
makes your artwork unique?
Oscar Wilde once said, “A work of art
is the unique result of a unique temperament.” My temperament translates into
seeds of health that are infused into the imagery I create. Like a summer rain
nurturing a seed, the viewer's attention and connection to the art can bloom
with personal meaning and promote health.
How
does being a member of the Global Alliance for Arts & Health help you to
meet your artistic goals?
One of the goals of the studio is to
place the artwork where it can make a positive difference to the viewers
personal experience particularly in the healthcare environment, as well as
hospitality, the office, or the home. Being a member of the Global Alliance of
Art & Health has connected me to a whole world of other members working in
those very environments and who believe in the healing power of the fusion of
art and health. Connections and support are crucial for an artist to thrive and
sell work, GAAH has it!
What
advice would you give to someone new in the field?
Stay open
to all the ways healing can occur, be tenacious, care, trust your intuition,
stay connected to the whole, and reach out!
What
is the biggest challenge you face in your work and how are you working to
overcome it?
My greatest challenges center around
time – time to create the art, time to market and sell, time to manage the
business profitability, time to stay rejuvenated. If anyone has an answer,
please do tell!
What
keeps you motivated to do the work you do?
The
desire to understand the essential truths motivates me to plant my feet on the
ground every day. The creative process, the learning, and the associated
explorations cut across so many linear barriers giving me a small glimpse of
what matters.
