The University of Michigan Health Systems really walks the talk when it comes to the power of art to enlighten the healing process. I am pleased to be a part of the “Gifts of Art” exhibit being held now until June 10^th, at The University Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The Gifts of Art brings the world of art and music to patients, visitors and staff at the University of Michigan Health System. One of the first of its kind nationwide, this comprehensive program has been developed to enhance the Health System’s commitment to providing an enriching and comforting environment to assist the healing process. BEHIND THE VEIL: MONOPRINT & MIXED MEDIA

 Casey Blanchard is a monoprint and mixed media artist living in Vermont. During her travels, Blanchard considers no found object too grand or insignificant for expression in the printing medium. She finds the process of monoprinting to be engaging, fluid, unpredictable and fun. It is the mysteries behind the frayed veil, the torn edge and the unspoken word that intrigue her. Blanchard hopes to wake up the viewer’s perception, encouraging in them reflection, exploration and a connection to meaning. She uses organic materials in her artwork to help draw people to their natural, healthy and whole state. Blanchard has been involved in arts in healthcare both nationally and internationally. Healing Communities Through Art!

      The 24th Annual International Conference for The Global Alliance for Arts & Health was held on April 11 and 12th at Washington D.C. in the National Museum of The American Indian. This was my first conference with this organization and it was filled with fascinating presenters from around the planet, as well as inspiring stories about art and healing.

The Conference provides a forum for hundreds of leaders in arts & health, including artist, creative art therapist, art directors, healthcare providers, architects, designers, educators and researchers, to present and discuss innovative developments in the use of arts and health to heal communities.

Coffee, Coffee!!

Our own Green Mountain Coffee Roasters was the host sponsor this year at the 25th Annual Specialty Coffee Association of America Conference! Over 9,300 coffee professionals from around the world attended this convention. Many languages, cultures and a vibrant gathering with coffee on their minds! From education, training, barista competitions, to equipment and exhibitions, its a happening scene.
Joining my husband Dan, (Mr.Coffee to some) owner of Coffee Enterprise, I decided to test the market with my monoprint coffee note cards and had a lot of fun while receiving feedback. A great beginning!  Both Grounds for Health and Food4Farmers were there to receive the benefits of future card sales.

Grand Opening at Dartmouth-Hitchcock

I was thrilled to finally see my work up on the walls of the brand-spanking-new Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center building on Heater Road in Lebanon, NH.

My art is now featured in their permanent collection and can be seen in the Reception Room on Level 2, right off the Main Entry.

It's really wonderful to be making a niche in the Healthcare Industry. I keep a sticky note by my desk to remind myself that "As artists we cant fix healthcare, but we can mend its spirit"

Thank you to Elisabeth and everyone at Dartmouth-Hitchcock, for recognizing the importance of art in healing environments. I am so grateful that my monoprints will be supportive to patients and staff who find themselves in need of contemplation and inner reflection on the path of healing.
